Appointments:
Manchester GP surgeries are there for you at evenings and weekends
We are part of the Enhanced Access Service that provides appointments by calling 0161 669 4607. This number is for appointment bookings and cancellations only and is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.
Appointments are available throughout the week, Monday to Saturday, during afternoon hours.
All appointments are held at The Avenue Medical Centre, 51-53 Victoria Avenue, Blackley Manchester, M9 6BA
Urgent appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today (Monday to Friday):
When you phone the practice, the patient advisor will ask you the reason for the appointment to ensure you get booked with most appropriate clinician.
Routine appointments
To request a routine appointment with the practice nurse or HCA
- phone us on 0161 271 3065 or visit us, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- use the self booking link if you were sent one by the practice
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone or face-to-face
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Changing / Cancelling Appointments
If you would like to change / cancel your appointment please ring reception before your appointment time. This appointment can then be given to someone else. If you have been sent a text reminder for your appointment there is also an option to cancel your appointment.
Telephone Advice
Should you need to speak to a clinician via the telephone please call reception on 0161 740 2106. The receptionist may ask you some questions in order to assist the clinician.
Alternative Options to Access Healthcare
Once you have provided the reason for your appointment, the receptionist can help signpost you to the most appropriate service. Other options that may be available are:
- Extended Access appointments in the local Hub including evening and weekends
- Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) for minor ailments
- Online Consultations via the surgery website (home page)
- Direct booking for Physio appointments
- Referral to the Social Prescribing Services

We are a training practice. Occasionally there may be a student doctor in the surgery; please let us know if you would prefer to be seen without the student present.
